Kuala Lampur:All schools in Johor will be closed for two days starting tomorrow in response to the worsening haze and declining air quality across the state.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the decision to close the schools was made by the Regent of Johor, Tunku Mahkota Ismail, as a precautionary measure to protect the safety and health of students, as stated by Dr. Muhammad Naqib Md Ghazali, the State Education and Information Committee chairman.
During the closure, Home-Based Teaching and Learning (PdPR) will be implemented to ensure that education continues without interruption. Any schools involved in the Year Four Learning Matrix (MPT4) or other assessments will have their activities postponed and rescheduled, following directives from the Johor Education Department (JPNJ) and relevant authorities.
The state government acknowledges that this decision may disrupt the schedules of parents and guardians who need to work. Employers are encouraged to cooperate by providing flexibility to affected parents through appropriate work arrangements tailored to their organizational needs.
Dr. Muhammad Naqib emphasized that the state government, along with relevant agencies, will continue monitoring the Air Pollutant Index (API) readings. He urged parents and guardians to prioritize their children's health by reducing outdoor activities, ensuring adequate hydration, and seeking medical attention if symptoms such as coughing, sore throat, or difficulty breathing occur.
