Johor Polls Offer Platform for Demonstrating Democratic Maturity, Says Mujahid

Johor bahru: The 16th Johor state election provides the best platform for the people to demonstrate democratic maturity by aligning the state and federal administrations. Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Mujahid Yusof highlighted the unique political landscape in Johor, where Pakatan Harapan (PH) acts as a check and balance to the Barisan Nasional (BN)-led state government.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Mujahid noted that while PH and BN are strategic partners at the federal level, this arrangement could foster greater stability if voters choose to empower PH to work alongside the federal government under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He emphasized the democratic freedoms in Malaysia, allowing citizens to form political parties and make independent choices, as he spoke at the 'Johor Ke Depan Undi Harapan' roadshow with Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari also in attendance.

Dr Mujahid also remarked on the diversity of parties participating in the state election, viewing it as a testament to the robust democratic practices in the country. He stressed the importance of effective policy alignment between the state and federal governments to safeguard the welfare of the people in Johor. He urged voters to support PH to ensure the state's economic stability aligns with the federal agenda.

A total of 172 candidates are contesting in the Johor state election, with polling scheduled for July 11 and early voting on July 7.
