Johor: Voters in the Johor state election have been urged to choose candidates who can ensure continuity with the state government to facilitate the smooth and effective delivery of public services.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, UMNO information chief Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said emphasized that while every political party holds the constitutional right to field candidates, voters should consider the state's administrative interests when making their choices. She highlighted that Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates are in a better position to serve the people of Johor, as the state is currently governed by BN.
Azalina remarked, "I would like to remind Johor voters that voting for BN candidates offers an advantage at the state level because this is a state election, not a federal election." She further explained the importance of a close working relationship with the state government for village heads and development committees, urging voters to exercise their wisdom in selecting the party and candidates who can ensure continuity with the state administration.
Azalina, who also serves as Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform), made these remarks following the officiation of the Insolvency Second Chance Policy Roadshow Carnival 2026. The Johor State Legislative Assembly was dissolved on June 1, with the Election Commission (EC) setting tomorrow as nomination day, July 7 for early voting day, and July 11 as polling day.
