Johor PH Initiates Seat Distribution Talks Amid Election Speculation

Kuala lumpur: Johor Pakatan Harapan (PH) has embarked on preliminary discussions regarding seat distribution as they gear up for a potential state election. Johor DAP chairman Teo Nie Ching confirmed that the talks presently involve only the parties within the PH coalition. According to BERNAMA News Agency, Teo disclosed that the possibility of a state election in Johor this year cannot be dismissed, prompting Johor PH to initiate discussions on seat allocation. She shared these insights with reporters at an event today, emphasizing that the coalition's internal negotiations are a priority before considering alliances with other political entities. Teo, who also serves as the Deputy Minister of Communications, reiterated that it is customary for political dialogue to commence within the coalition before extending to other parties if deemed necessary. She further expressed confidence that all political factions are currently strategizing for the impending state election. In the previous Johor state election , PH secured 12 out of 56 state seats. Barisan Nasional claimed 40 seats, Perikatan Nasional obtained three, and MUDA captured one. Within the PH coalition, the Democratic Action Party (DAP) won 10 seats, while Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah), and MUDA each managed to secure one seat.
