Kuala lumpur: Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi is set to defend his Machap seat against Nor Hafiz Roslan of Pakatan Harapan (PH) in a direct contest during the 16th Johor state election. This development was confirmed by the returning officer Mohd Izzul Helmi Ahmad at the Dewan Muafakat, Simpang Renggam District Council, following the conclusion of the nomination process at 10 am today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nor Hafiz submitted his nomination papers at 9.03 am, closely followed by Onn Hafiz, the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate, who submitted his at 9.06 am. In the previous state election, Onn Hafiz secured the Machap seat with a majority of 6,543 votes, successfully defeating candidates from Perikatan Nasional, the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance, and Parti Pejuang Tanah Air.

The Johor state election is scheduled for July 11, marking a significant political event as Onn Hafiz aims to retain his position amid competition from PH's Nor Hafiz Roslan.
