Kota tinggi: The Johor government is set to enhance its tourism promotional activities in preparation for Visit Johor Year 2026 (VJY2026). State Education and Information Committee Chairman Aznan Tamin announced plans to welcome tourists at state entry points and to increase the dissemination of tourism-related information through various media channels.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Aznan emphasized the importance of these initiatives, highlighting the recent welcome of tourists from Indonesia as a part of the promotional efforts. This program, already implemented at 16 entry points, marks the conclusion of its current series but will continue with follow-up initiatives to ensure ongoing promotion of Johor.
Aznan shared these details with reporters during the arrival of tourists from Batam, Indonesia, at the Tanjung Belungkor Ferry Terminal in Kota Tinggi. Johor Tourism Director Mohammad Nazrul Abd Rahim was also present at the event.
The state government plans to collaborate with the Information Department and other relevant agencies to distribute tourism-related materials to media outlets, thereby expanding the reach of Johor's tourism programs. Aznan pointed out the potential of the Pengerang area as a tourism destination, supported by key entry points such as the Tanjung Belungkor Jetty, Tanjung Pengelih Jetty, and the Desaru coast.
With ongoing promotional efforts, Desaru is expected to draw more tourists, adding to the existing influx of visitors to the Pengerang area on weekends. In addition to major attractions, Johor aims to promote local economic products as part of its tourism offerings, featuring highlights such as Pulau Tanjung Surat, oyster farms, food farms, and a zoo. These attractions can be developed through collaborations to provide diverse choices for tourists.
