Joachim, Masidi, and Ewon Appointed as New Deputy Chief Ministers in Sabah

Kota kinabalu: Acting Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam is among the three newly appointed Deputy Chief Ministers in the Sabah Cabinet.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the other two Deputy Chief Ministers are Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) secretary-general Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun and United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) president Datuk Ewon Benedick. The trio took their oaths of office before Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman during a swearing-in ceremony held at Istana Seri Kinabalu.

The appointments come in the wake of Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor being sworn in as the 17th Chief Minister of Sabah early Sunday morning, following the recent state election. The election saw GRS emerge as the leading party, securing 29 out of the 73 contested seats. Parti Warisan (Warisan) won 25 seats, while Barisan Nasional captured 6 seats. Independents secured 5 seats, UPKO 3, and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) 2. The remaining seats were divided among Perikatan Nasional (PN), Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM), and Pakatan Harapan (PH), each winning one seat.
