JMR Becomes First Malaysian Team To Win Pro-Am Class In Spa-Francorchamps

Johor bahru: Johor Motorsports Racing (JMR) made history when it became the first Malaysian team to win the Pro-Am class in the gruelling 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps endurance race in Belgium yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, a statement uploaded to The Royal Johor Facebook revealed that the Tunku Panglima of Johor, Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim, and the Tunku Putera of Johor, Tunku Abu Bakar, along with teammates Ben Greene and Jordan Love, secured the first place in the Pro-Am category of the world's most prestigious GT3 race.

The statement highlighted that this was JMR's third appearance in the prestigious race, making the victory even more rewarding as it was achieved jointly by the royal duo. Tunku Abdul Rahman expressed his happiness and gratitude for the team's historic success, emphasizing the excellent performance of their machine and the extraordinary support received from General Motors (GM).

Tunku Abdul Rahman stated, "Our machine functioned really well throughout the race, and we even received extraordinary support from General Motors (GM). The whole team performed superbly over the weekend. We could feel the determination of every team member as we sought victory. As drivers, we are limited to certain aspects; everything depends on the cooperation of the entire team. Alhamdulillah!"

Tunku Abu Bakar shared his feelings about the victory, describing it as an incredible experience achieved during his second appearance in the race. He remarked, "Every hour during the race was chaotic. It felt like we've won the entire championship. Alhamdulillah, I am very proud of the effort put in by the whole team in achieving this victory."

The statement also mentioned that team JMR will continue their challenge in this season's endurance race at the 50th edition of the Suzuka 1000KM at the historic Suzuka Circuit in Mie Prefecture, Japan, from September 11 to 13.
