JKR To Undertake Immediate Repair At Fatal Cameron Highlands Crash Site

Cameron highlands: The Public Works Department (JKR), with the support of the Ministry of Works (KKR), has pledged to carry out immediate repair and safety enhancement works at the site of a fatal accident at Batu 21, Jalan Tapah towards Cameron Highlands, Pahang, yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, JKR stated that the location has already been identified for the installation of road barriers under the 2026 Road Maintenance Estimation (APJ) and is currently awaiting approval. The department emphasized its commitment to regularly monitor road conditions at the site to help prevent similar incidents in the future.

As an interim safety measure, delineator posts and safety strings had already been installed at the location prior to the accident. JKR also noted that no road surface damage or potholes were detected at the accident site during the concessionaire's routine inspection patrol along the route on Monday.

JKR ensures that routine maintenance is carried out by the concessionaire in accordance with contractual obligations, including urgent maintenance works. The concessionaire has been performing regular maintenance in line with the terms of the concession agreement.

The department also expressed its condolences to the victim's family. In the incident last night, a man was killed while five members of his family were injured after the Perodua Aruz they were travelling in skidded and plunged into a three-metre-deep ravine at the roadside.
