JKR Conducting Safety Inspections, Schools Temporarily Closed – Public Works Minister

Kuala lumpur: The Selangor and Kuala Langat Public Works Department (JKR) are conducting structural inspections and safety assessments on several public buildings in Telok Panglima Garang, Selangor, that were damaged during this afternoon’s storm. Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi stated that Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sijangkang Jaya sustained roof damage, prompting the JKR to advise the school to suspend classes until the building’s structural safety is confirmed.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Selangor JKR electrical engineering branch is also inspecting the wiring of affected buildings as a preliminary measure to prevent accidents. Nanta Linggi shared on Facebook that a new block under the High Density School programme, which was recently completed, suffered minor roof damage, and contractors have been directed to make immediate repairs.

He expressed his sympathies to victims of the collapsed Sijangkang state constituency coordinator’s office building at Dewan Wawasan Kampung Medan, Kuala Langat. A woman was injured after being trapped under rubble and was rescued by firefighters before being handed over to medical personnel for treatment. Additionally, several pupils sustained minor injuries when a surau near the location was damaged.

Nanta urged the public to avoid the affected area to prevent further incidents and encouraged everyone to remain cautious.
