JKR Completes SMK Sri Sadong Project At A Cost Of RM28.73 Mln

Kota samarahan: The construction project to replace the educational facilities of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sri Sadong here, worth RM28.73 million, was completed this year under the supervision of the Special Project Team 2 (PPK2) of the Public Works Department (JKR).

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi announced that the project, which commenced on March 17, 2022, is part of the MADANI Government’s initiatives aimed at enhancing the nation’s educational infrastructure, particularly in rural regions. This initiative underscores the government’s dedication to improving the learning ecosystem.

The project was executed through a conventional consultancy method by contractor Welfield Services Sdn Bhd. It included constructing an academic block with 12 classrooms and workshops for various disciplines such as electrical and electronics, manufacturing, and laboratories for computer, science, chemistry, biology, and physics.

Additionally, the development featured a room designated for the Integrated Special Education Programme (PPKI), a canteen block, five units of F-class teachers’ quarters, and several other facilities to ensure the school’s comprehensive infrastructure.

Nanta was present today at a ceremony held at the school to witness the official handover of the project to the Ministry of Education (MoE). He emphasized that the project exemplifies the government’s continuous effort to provide modern, high-quality educational infrastructure, which is crucial for fostering student excellence and reducing the educational disparity between urban and rural localities.

In his statement, Nanta expressed gratitude towards the Ministry of Education for their trust and collaboration with the Ministry of Works and JKR, particularly regarding site supervision, which was pivotal for the successful completion of the project.

He further urged JKR to maintain vigilance and collaborate with the contractor to address any issues related to defects during the Defects Liability Period (DLP) as per the established regulations.
