JDT Coach Confident in Team’s Ability to Handle Busy Schedule

Rabat:Johor Darul Ta'zim Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) head coach Xisco Munoz is confident that his team can manage their demanding schedule, emphasizing that players must meet the expectations of a major club despite having limited recovery time.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Munoz acknowledges the challenges posed by the packed schedule but views it as an inherent part of competing at a high level. He highlights the importance of having a robust coaching team to maintain player fitness and prevent injuries.

Munoz stated the necessity of close coordination with his coaching staff to manage player fitness ahead of their crucial AFC Champions League Elite match against South Korea's Pohang Steelers on October 13. He expressed gratitude for his capable coaching lineup, which helps prepare players for the heavy workload. These comments followed JDT's 4-1 victory over Penang FC in their FA Cup quarter-final return-leg match at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, securing an 11-3 aggregate win and a semi-final against Kuala Lumpur City FC or DPMM FC.

Looking ahead to the match against Pohang Steelers, Munoz urged his players to maintain strong defensive and offensive performances throughout the game. He noted that strength in defense and clinical finishing are decisive factors in the Champions League.

JDT began their AFC Champions League journey with a 1-1 draw against Buriram United on September 15. Meanwhile, Penang FC head coach Wan Rohaimi Wan Ismail attributed their loss to conceding an early penalty, which increased pressure on his team following the 7-2 first-leg defeat. He indicated this led to simple mistakes and allowed JDT to control the match.
