Kuala lumpur: A total of 760 flood-prone locations in Pahang have been identified by the Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) in anticipation of the Northeast Monsoon, which is expected to occur from November until March next year.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Pahang JBPM director Datuk Mohd Razam Taja Rahim stated that data from the state Department of Irrigation and Drainage indicated that the Temerloh district recorded the highest number of flood-risk areas at 185, followed by Jerantut with 106 and Kuala Lipis with 88. In contrast, Cameron Highlands district was noted to have the lowest number of flood-prone locations, with only 11 areas identified.
Mohd Razam informed that 930 fire officers and personnel across the state are now fully prepared, having organized duty rosters and conducted equipment inspections at all fire stations. He emphasized that several meetings at the state, district, and community levels have already been conducted. “If floods occur, we will use all available facilities and resources to the maximum,” he assured.
During a recent ceremony, the department distributed 20 community boats to selected voluntary fire brigades and community fire brigades across Pahang as part of the flood season preparations. Currently, JBPM Pahang owns 76 boats of various types, including 14 contributions from government agencies and elected representatives, strategically stationed at fire stations throughout the state.
