Johor bahru: The Electric Train Service (ETS) between Johor Bahru Sentral (JB Sentral) and Segamat offers a travel alternative that is not only fast but also more practical for commuters, said Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi. He noted that ETS users could cover the stretch in approximately 1 hour and 35 minutes.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, each train can accommodate around 300 passengers at a time and reach speeds of up to 140 kilometres per hour, making it one of the preferred public transport options. Onn Hafiz mentioned, 'I had the opportunity to personally experience the journey, which offers various facilities, including clean toilets, a prayer space, and a caf©, and is also friendly to persons with disabilities,' in a Facebook post today.
Onn Hafiz also expressed appreciation to Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad for the initiative in providing the service and hoped the facilities would continue to be improved in the future. The ETS service to Segamat began on March 15, 2025, as part of the Gemas-JB Sentral double-tracking project.
