JANM and UiTM Forge Alliance to Enhance Public Sector Accounting Education

Kuala lumpur: The Accountant General's Department of Malaysia (JANM) and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen knowledge development and professionalism in public sector accounting. The MoU was signed by Accountant General Datuk Zainani Jusoh, while UiTM was represented by Prof Dr Norli Ali, Dean of the Faculty of Accountancy, UiTM Puncak Alam.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Zainani stated that the collaboration serves as a strategic platform to bridge the gap between theory and practice, while reinforcing the country's public sector accounting education and training ecosystem. She emphasized that through the combination of UiTM's academic expertise and JANM's practical experience, technically competent human capital, with integrity and resilience, can be developed to face the increasingly complex financial environment.

Under the MoU, various forms of collaboration will be implemented. These include talent and competency development, research and academic publications, knowledge sharing, and best practices in public sector accounting. The agreement also aims at strengthening the teaching and learning of Public Sector Accounting, in addition to organizing seminars and conferences at both national and international levels.

Earlier, Zainani, who also holds the position of adjunct professor at UiTM's Faculty of Accountancy, delivered a keynote lecture titled 'Perakaunan Sektor Awam: Siaga Cabaran, Kalis Hadapan' (Public Sector Accounting: Ready for Challenges, Future-Proof) at the Faculty of Accountancy, UiTM Puncak Alam.
