Jalan Teku/Pasai Siong-Kemuyang Road Project Progresses Ahead of Schedule: Uggah

Sibu: The 6.17 km Jalan Teku/Jalan Pasai Siong to Kemuyang Package I construction project has achieved 25.5 per cent physical progress, which is 2.82 per cent ahead of schedule, announced Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas. He highlighted that the RM76 million project is being executed according to plan, surpassing the schedule target by 22.7 per cent.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Uggah expressed satisfaction with the project's current progress and conveyed confidence in the contractor's ability to complete the project on time. However, he noted that weather conditions might pose challenges in the forthcoming stages. The project includes constructing a 704-metre elevated road across a peatland area, which is a significant component of the undertaking.

Uggah emphasized that the new road would unlock a development area with substantial potential due to its proximity to Sibu town and enhance the communication network in the region. The road will serve as a second route to Sibu town, providing improved access for the local community.

Earlier, Uggah visited the construction project of the new Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Selangau, valued at RM81 million in Selangau. He reported that the project, originally slated for completion in June 2027, has reached 64.2 per cent physical progress and is ahead of schedule. Uggah is optimistic that the project could be completed by the end of this year.

The educational facilities being constructed include academic and administrative blocks, dormitories for male and female students, a dining hall, 18 classrooms, 20 teacher rooms, teacher quarters, and other support amenities accommodating approximately 400 students. The Public Works Department (JKR) of Malaysia is implementing the project, with construction having commenced on July 15, 2024, and an original completion date set for June 14, 2027.
