Jalan Penang Fire: Myanmar Worker Died From Smoke Inhalation

Penang: A Myanmar construction worker found dead after a fire at a premises on Jalan Penang yesterday died from smoke inhalation, police said. Timur Laut deputy police chief Supt Lee Swee Sake stated that a post-mortem carried out on Mohamad Boshi Sabi Ullah, 56, confirmed the cause of death as smoke inhalation, and there was no criminal element involved.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, police had initially classified the case as a sudden death. Earlier, Penang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Mohamad Shoki Hamzah reported the victim's body was found with first-degree burns on the lower floor near the front entrance of the premises. Several samples were taken from the scene near the victim's body and are set to be sent to the Fire Investigation Laboratory for analysis, which is expected to take about 14 days.
