JAKOA Allocates Over RM146,000 for Monsoon Food Aid in Kelantan Interior

Kuala lumpur: The Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) has committed more than RM146,000 to provide food basket assistance to remote areas in Kelantan during the Northeast Monsoon period, spanning from 2025 to 2027.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kelantan and Terengganu JAKOA director Mohd Faedzyal Mohamed stated that the allocation is designated for delivering food supplies to five Orang Asli remote posts, including Pos Balar, Pos Belatim, Pos Simpor, Pos Gob, and Pos Bihai. These efforts aim to support 956 heads of households through basic food baskets containing essential items like rice, sugar, and cooking oil.

The initiative addresses the challenges posed by the Northeast Monsoon season, which often results in the closure of land routes, hindering residents' access to towns for food supplies. Mohd Faedzyal emphasized the importance of this assistance during a food basket delivery operation to affected remote areas in Bandar Baru.

Galas assemblyman Datuk Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim praised the government's consistent efforts through JAKOA in providing annual support to affected communities. He also acknowledged the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) Air Unit's role in conducting humanitarian flights to deliver aid to these remote areas.
