Kuala lumpur: The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) remains committed to enhancing organisational governance by upholding the values of integrity, accountability, professionalism, and trust, in line with efforts to advance national development based on Maqasid Syariah. JAKIM director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee emphasized that this commitment aligns with the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah's call for Muslim countries to embrace good governance and inclusive development guided by the principles of Maqasid Syariah.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, JAKIM also referenced a statement by Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan, who affirmed the MADANI Government's full support for the royal decree. Sirajuddin highlighted the significance of the royal call as a guideline to strengthen Malaysia's administrative system, ensuring it remains rooted in justice, trust, integrity, and the people's well-being, as outlined in Maqasid Syariah.

As part of these efforts, JAKIM established the Expert Panel Committee for the Development of the Malaysian Maqasid Syariah Index last February, chaired by Federal Territory Mufti Ahmad Fauwaz Fadzil. The committee's aim is to conduct research and develop a framework for the Malaysian Maqasid Syariah Index, which will guide policy implementation, performance measurement, and strengthen a culture of integrity in governance.

Sirajuddin stated that JAKIM, as the coordinating agency for Islamic affairs at the federal level, will continue to strengthen strategic cooperation with State Islamic Religious Councils, State Islamic Religious Departments, and all stakeholders. This cooperation aims to enhance the management of Islamic affairs efficiently and effectively in line with Maqasid Syariah principles.

In a recent royal address at the 8th World Conference on Islamic Thought and Civilisation (WCIT), Sultan Nazrin emphasized the importance of a civil service that acts in the interests of all citizens, embodying state unity. He noted that leaders who govern with humility and recognize that power is borrowed, not owned, can secure the people's loyalty and pride.

Sultan Nazrin also remarked that development cannot be pursued in isolation, as no nation can thrive by closing itself off from the world. Trade, investment, knowledge exchange, and technology are essential for modern prosperity.
