J-KOM Ready To Serve As Intermediary To Promote Johor Development Projects – DG

Muar: The Community Communications Department (J-KOM) is ready to serve as an intermediary to help the Johor government promote development projects in the state to the public via various media platforms, including social media. Its director-general, Datuk Ismail Yusop, highlighted this initiative as a shift from past efforts that focused on traditional media.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Ismail Yusop emphasized the department’s role in informing the public about developments in the state. While traditional media is managed by the Information Department, Bernama, and other agencies, J-KOM focuses on utilizing social media to reach younger audiences. He made these remarks after the Jauhar MADANI programme at Tunku Mahkota Ismail Youth Centre (TMIYC), officiated by Johor Public Works, Transport, Infrastructure, and Communications Committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh.

J-KOM employs major platforms such as Facebook, X, TikTok, Instagram, and podcasts, and plans to initiate WhatsApp and Telegram groups at the district level to broaden its reach. The department was established to assist ministries, state governments, and agencies in ensuring that all implemented projects are communicated effectively to every level of society.

In his speech, Mohamad Fazli requested the department’s assistance in promoting every development project and activity to keep the people of Johor informed about the latest developments.

The Jauhar MADANI programme, organized by J-KOM in conjunction with the 2025 National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM), features activities such as costume contests, a treasure hunt, an interactive Safe Internet campaign by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), a School Got Talent contest, and a coloring contest.
