Israeli Forces Intercept Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0, Detain Eight Malaysians

Kuala lumpur: The aggressive and unlawful actions by the Israeli Forces against participants of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 mission reflect desperation on their part, says Sumud Nusantara Command Centre (SNCC) director-general Datuk Dr Sani Araby Abdul Alim Araby.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, this was the first time aggressive actions, sabotage, and the alleged abduction of participants had been carried out in broad daylight with the presence of numerous boats. Sani Araby noted that the Israeli Forces acted in desperation, intercepting the mission during the daytime for the first time. The interception was anticipated to occur near Greek waters, and while the timing was unexpected, the presence of many boats indicated an attempt to transfer the Flotilla vessels and delegates to a large 'prison ship' at sea.

As of 6 pm, SNCC confirmed that eight Malaysians aboard five vessels had been detained by the Israeli Forces while en route to deliver aid to Gaza. The interception of the vessels participating in the GSF 2.0 mission began at 3 pm Malaysian time. Sani Araby urged the international community to take note of these actions, which he described as violations of the mission to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Sani Araby stated that his team had contacted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Wisma Putra to press the relevant parties over the matter. Meanwhile, the GSF legal team was gathering evidence of alleged encroachment by the Israeli Forces to bring the issue before the International Criminal Court.

Regarding the condition of the Malaysians detained by the Israeli Forces, Sani Araby mentioned that he had not received the latest updates due to communication being cut off. However, he managed to contact Hareez aboard the Alcyone vessel, who informed him that the occupying forces appeared to be splitting the large group into three smaller groups. Sani Araby believes that the deployment of a legal team to document any wrongdoing may have prompted the detention and abduction of their representatives.

Sani Araby called on Malaysians to continue performing solat hajat, Qunut Nazilah, and continuous prayers for the safety of all mission delegates and the success of efforts to liberate Gaza.
