Kuala lumpur: World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) Group Managing Director Datuk Sri Dr Irmohizam Ibrahim was conferred the Special Excellence Award 2026: World Outstanding Business Leadership Excellence Award by the World Business Chamber (WBC) last night. In a statement, WTCKL said the award was conferred in recognition of Irmohizam's longstanding contributions to strengthening international business collaboration and advancing Malaysia's Business Events industry.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the award was presented by Governor of Melaka Tun Mohd Ali Rustam during the Inaugural Dinner of the WBC, which was also attended by former Chief Justice of Malaysia and Chief Justice of Dubai International Financial Courts Tun Zaki Azmi, who is also Honorary Patron of KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific, and WBC president Tan Sri Michael Yeoh. Irmohizam expressed his gratitude for the award, stating, "I am truly honoured to receive this recognition, which reflects not only my leadership journey but also the collective dedication of the entire WTCKL team in driving the organisation's continued success."
Irmohizam emphasized that leadership is about fostering strategic collaboration, encouraging innovation, and creating lasting impact. He also highlighted WTCKL's commitment to strengthening international partnerships and supporting the aspirations of Visit Malaysia 2026 by enhancing Malaysia's position as a preferred destination for world-class Business Events, while contributing to greater trade, investment, and economic growth.
The statement further detailed that under Irmohizam's leadership, WTCKL has evolved into one of the region's leading convention and exhibition venues. Earlier this year, WTCKL was awarded the ASEAN Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) Venue Award in the Exhibition Venue category for the 2026-2028 term in Cebu, Philippines, reaffirming its excellence in meeting ASEAN tourism standards.
In his role as a Board Director of the World Trade Centres Association (WTCA) headquartered in New York, Irmohizam has significantly strengthened WTCKL's engagement with a network of more than 300 World Trade Centres across nearly 100 countries and territories. Beyond his leadership in the business sector, Irmohizam also contributes his expertise through various appointments in corporate governance, higher education, and healthcare institutions, reflecting his broader commitment to organisational excellence and talent development.
