Kota kinabalu: Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah Tun Musa Aman emphasized the important role of graduates from the Institute of Islamic Studies and Dakwah Sabah (IPDAS) as religious ambassadors, tasked with continuing the mission of dakwah and serving as a beacon of hope for the community. He urged them to uphold the good name of Sabah at all times, leveraging the ethics and knowledge acquired from their education at IPDAS.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Tun Musa highlighted the success of IPDAS in laying a strong foundation for understanding, thus producing preachers capable of fostering harmony in the community through wisdom and discernment. He made these remarks during his speech at the 19th IPDAS Convocation Ceremony, held at the Sabah International Convention Centre. The event was graced by the presence of Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, and Sabah Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Mohd Arif.
Tun Musa acknowledged the significant role IPDAS has played since its inception in promoting Islam in Sabah, producing high-quality preachers and spreading charitable work in a state noted for its ethnic, cultural, and linguistic diversity. He reminded the graduates that their achievements are not solely theirs but are shared with their parents, lecturers, and peers who have provided essential moral and material support.
He also expressed satisfaction with the rapid advancements made by IPDAS in terms of infrastructure and academics, which have resulted in a more comfortable and conducive learning environment. Tun Musa praised the efforts and sacrifices made by parents in supporting their children’s education, motivated by the belief that these endeavors will yield invaluable blessings and honor.
Tun Musa extended his highest appreciation and congratulations to the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) for their steadfast commitment to supporting the development of IPDAS and maintaining the image of Islam across Sabah.
