Kuala lumpur: IOI Corporation Bhd has appointed former Bursa Malaysia Bhd chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar, as its non-executive chairman, effective November 5, 2025. The plantation group announced in a Bursa Malaysia filing that Abdul Wahid will succeed Tan Sri Peter Chin Fah Kui, who retired from the board today.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Abdul Wahid previously served as Maybank president and chief executive officer from May 2008 to June 2013, during which he also held the position of chairman of the Association of Banks in Malaysia. Subsequently, he was appointed as a senator and minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, where he was responsible for economic planning from June 2013 to June 2016.
He later took on the role of group chairman at Permodalan Nasional Bhd from August 2016 to June 2018. Abdul Wahid completed his five-year tenure as Bursa Malaysia chairman on April 30, 2025. Currently, he holds the position of chairman at Cypark Resources Bhd, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Malaysia, and the MySDG Foundation.
