Investment Inflows Among Key Issues Discussed In MITI Meeting With PM Anwar

Kuala lumpur: Investment inflows into the country were among the key issues discussed at the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry's (MITI) top management meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim here today. Its minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said discussions also included foreign investments received and domestic requirements related to foreign worker recruitment.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the meeting aimed to convey emerging issues that require the ministry's senior management's attention, including several substantive matters that require the Prime Minister's consideration and decision for implementation. 'We raised several important matters which require the Prime Minister's attention to enable policies to be implemented more effectively,' Johari told reporters after the meeting.

Also present were Deputy Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Sim Tze Tzin, Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, and MITI Secretary-General Datuk Hairil Yahri Yaacob. Johari mentioned that MITI's policy has been formulated and implemented, but there are several areas that can be improved. He noted that issues related to the Reciprocal Trade Agreement (ART) were not discussed in the meeting.
