Investment and Economic Cooperation Initiatives with Italy, Brazil, and France to Announce After PM’s Visit


Kuala lumpur: Several new initiatives involving investment and strategic economic cooperation between Malaysia and Italy, France, and Brazil are expected to be announced following Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s working visit to the three countries. MADANI Government spokesman and Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said Anwar’s visit, which began yesterday and runs until July 7, forms part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations with the respective nations. The visit also aims to enhance economic cooperation on a global scale.



According to BERNAMA News Agency, “We can expect several discussions on investment and enhanced economic cooperation to lead to announcements in due course,” said Fahmi. The Prime Minister, who is leading a trade mission to the three countries, is scheduled to visit key global economic centres, including attending the 17th BRICS Summit.



Anwar is expected to hold a one-on-one meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to reinforce the bilateral economic agenda and explore joint cultural initiatives. He is also scheduled to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron, with discussions expected to focus on the sectors of trade, technology, and education.



Subsequently, Anwar will attend the 17th BRICS Leaders’ Summit at the invitation of Brazilian President Luiz In¡cio Lula da Silva. Accompanying the Prime Minister on the visit is a business delegation comprising corporate giants and innovative Malaysian companies. Among the participating companies are Petroliam Nasional Bhd, Khazanah Nasional Bhd, Sunway Group, and Malayan Banking Bhd.
