Invest Selangor Targets To Surpass SIBS 2025 Potential Transactions

Kuala lumpur: Invest Selangor Bhd aims to surpass last year's RM8.17 billion in potential business transactions during the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2026, which will be held this October. Selangor State Investment, Trade and Mobility committee chairman Ng Sze Han announced that the 10th edition of SIBS will incorporate three new specialised pillars to enhance the state's multi-sectoral investment ecosystem.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the first new pillar is the Selangor Techsphere Summit, organized by the Selangor Technical Skills Development Centre in partnership with Hannover Fairs Asia Pacific, focusing on technical talent and industrial innovation. The second is the Selangor Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Semiconductor Summit, organized by the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation. The third pillar is the Selangor International Care Expo, held by Wanita Berdaya Selangor.

Ng mentioned that these pillars will complement the established Selangor ASEAN Business Conference and the Selangor Investment and Industrial Park Expo. This year, SIBS will also introduce the Selangor Investment Forum, a high-level seminar focusing on key industries, as well as the Selangor Career Outreach Talent Expo, a dedicated career fair in partnership with SOCSO to address the talent gap for approved investments in Selangor.

Ng added that since its inception in 2015, SIBS, formerly known as the Selangor International Expo, has seen its potential transaction value increase significantly from approximately RM200 million in its early years to RM13.85 billion in 2024. The summit has facilitated a cumulative total of RM30.56 billion in potential transaction value, reinforcing Selangor's position as Malaysia's leading economic engine.

Beyond trade, SIBS has established itself as a premier centre for thought leadership, hosting over 1,081 speakers and welcoming more than 23,000 conference attendees to date, facilitating high-level discourse on ASEAN's evolving economic landscape. SIBS 2026 is scheduled to take place from October 14 to 17 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, with a new regional extension called SIBS@ASEAN Bandung Edition set for July 9 to 10.

Ng highlighted that Bandung, Indonesia, was strategically selected as the debut destination due to its economic similarities with Selangor, as both serve as primary industrial hubs and centres of innovation in their respective nations.

Meanwhile, Invest Selangor chief executive officer Datuk Hasan Azhari stated that SIBS@ASEAN marks the next chapter in repositioning Selangor as a regional connector. He anticipates bringing approximately 50 Selangor-based companies to the Bandung edition in July 2026, ensuring that local businesses remain globally competitive and relevant.
