INSKEN Targets Empowerment of 25,000 Micro Entrepreneurs Through Comprehensive Training Initiatives

Kuala Lumpur: Institut Keusahawanan Negara Bhd (INSKEN) aims to assist 25,000 entrepreneurs nationwide through 198 training and mentoring programmes this year. Acting chief executive officer Dr Maizura Mohamad emphasized the institution’s proactive approach, introducing initiatives like the INSKEN Mini Coaching, which will concentrate on four main topics: employee management, financial management, marketing, and product development.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the agency, under the Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry (KUSKOP), is dedicated to empowering micro and informal entrepreneurs through tailored training and mentoring programmes that align with industry needs. Dr. Maizura highlighted the importance of strategic collaborations in ensuring the success of these initiatives, welcoming partnerships from various parties.

Last year, INSKEN collaborated with several organizations, including Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia, the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council, and others through programmes such as Kursus Asas Keusahawanan. The mentoring programmes from 2017 to 2024 have significantly contributed to the national economy, creating 1,134 new jobs and helping 130 entrepreneurs upgrade their operations.

In 2024, twenty-four mentoring programmes, including 19 INSKEN bumiputera business coaching initiatives, generated substantial economic impact, with RM23 million in sales revenue, the creation of 468 job opportunities, and 60 entrepreneurs advancing their business status. Additionally, four start-up coaching programmes were organized to help entrepreneurs plan and implement effective marketing strategies.

Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick stated that INSKEN programmes align with the Malaysia MADANI policy framework, emphasizing values such as sustainability and innovation. The training modules based on MADANI values are designed to support business continuity and positively impact local entrepreneurs’ well-being.

In addition to mentoring, INSKEN conducted 207 short-term training programmes in 2024, focusing on various business aspects, benefiting 6,437 entrepreneurs nationwide. For more information, visit the official INSKEN website at www.insken.gov.my.
