Cheras: An Indonesian woman was found drowned after she jumped into a lake at Lake Valley, Bandar Tun Hussein Onn in Cheras yesterday. The incident is believed to have occurred when she was attempting to flee from officials from her country's embassy.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar stated that his department received an emergency call about the incident at 4.35 pm. A six-member team along with a fire engine from the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) were dispatched to the location.
He further explained that the search and rescue (SAR) operation initially utilized the water surface searching method before the Water Rescue Team (PPDA) took over. "The PPDA Unit conducted a dive at 10.10 pm and the victim was found at 10.19 pm at a distance of approximately six metres from the shore, at a depth of three metres," he said in a statement.
Ahmad Mukhlis reported that the victim, who was in her 30s, was brought up to the surface and later pronounced dead by a Ministry of Health officer at the scene. The victim's body was subsequently handed over to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for further action. He noted that the SAR team included two representatives from the Indonesian embassy, and the operation concluded at 11.10 pm.
