Indonesia Open: Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin In Semis As Pearly-Thinaah, Soon Huat-Shevon Falter

Jakarta: World No 8 Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Mohd Rumsani are the last Malaysians standing in the Indonesia Open Badminton Championships after disposing of India's Hariharan Amsakarunan-M.R. Arjun to book a spot in the semi-finals in Jakarta today.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin dominated from start to finish for a 21-12, 21-10 quarter-final victory over the world No 30 Indian pair for the only bright spot after Malaysia's challenge in women's doubles and mixed doubles of the Super 1000 tournament came to an abrupt halt at the iconic Istora Senayan.

It was the first meeting between the Malaysian pair and Hariharan-Arjun. In tomorrow's semi-finals, Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin will meet either top seeds Kim Won Ho-Seo Seung Jae of South Korea or Taiwan's Lee Fang-Chih-Lee Fang-Jen.

In women's doubles, top national pair and second-seeded Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah failed to make it a hat-trick of wins over Japan's Rui Hirokami-Sayaka Hobara, going down 20-22, 16-21 in their quarter-final clash. The world No 2 pair had beaten the Japanese duo twice last year, at the China Open and Thailand Open.

In mixed doubles, world No 12 husband-and-wife pair Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Jemie Lai, ranked 12th in the world, battled for 70 minutes before going down 21-15, 18-21, 20-22 to fourth-seeded Thom Gicquel-Delphine Delrue of France.
