Kuala lumpur: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) today announced that two independent assessors, Alstom and IJMC-PESTECH, are expected to submit their consolidated reports on the Aerotrain's design, installation, operations, and maintenance by mid-January 2026. Meanwhile, the next official update on the Aerotrain will be shared in January 2026.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, MAHB has reported that the Aerotrain continues to operate as usual during the day. To ensure uninterrupted passenger movement, a full shuttle-bus service will be deployed within off-peak hours nightly, from 9 pm to 7 am, to facilitate ongoing validation works.
MAHB shared progress updates on the comprehensive action plan (CAP) that was introduced to address reliability concerns with the KL International Airport Aerotrain system. The CAP, which commenced on November 15, 2025, was led by MAHB, with full involvement from contractors Alstom and IJMC-PESTECH joint venture, project consultants, and independent technical assessors.
Stage 1 and Stage 2, which involved overall inspections, rectification works, and simulation testing, have been successfully completed. Verification and rectification works are currently underway to ensure system integrity and operational safety. Stage 3 trial operations will now commence as planned and continue through the end of December, during which the system will be tested under various operational scenarios. These trials are a critical step in confirming the effectiveness of the corrective measures before full operational confidence is restored.
MAHB remains committed to ensuring passenger safety and comfort while upholding the highest operational standards. "We thank all passengers for their understanding and cooperation during this period," it added.
