Incident at Wisma Transit Involving Palestinians Resolved Without Injuries

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) confirmed that a commotion at Wisma Transit Kuala Lumpur involving Palestinians was related to their desire to hasten their return to Palestine. The incident occurred yesterday afternoon but was resolved without any reported injuries.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the MAF issued a statement clarifying that the disturbance, which began around 5 pm, was managed effectively. Although there was minor damage to the facility’s furniture, there were no physical altercations or injuries. MAF personnel promptly engaged in discussions with the Palestinians involved, and the situation was brought under control. The individuals dispersed by approximately 7:30 pm.

The MAF has urged the public to refrain from speculation regarding the event. Videos of the incident have circulated widely on social media, drawing public attention. This is not the first occurrence of such an incident; a similar situation took place last October when Palestinians expressed dissatisfaction with their accommodation at the transit center and movement restrictions.

Following last October’s incident, Palestinian Ambassador to Malaysia Walid Abu Ali apologized on behalf of Palestinians in Malaysia and those in their homeland for the disturbances caused.

In a humanitarian gesture on August 16 last year, Malaysia brought 127 Palestinians to the country, including 41 individuals injured in Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, for medical treatment. The injured received care at Tuanku Mizan Armed Forces Hospital, while their families were housed at the Wisma Transit facility.
