PUTRAJAYA: The implementation of the e-Tanah System through public-private partnership (PPP) is a major shift in the country’s land administration and management, said Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad. He emphasized that the system could help address public concerns about the complexities, time consumption, and transparency issues in land-related matters.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Nik Nazmi stated that the PPP e-Tanah system exemplifies the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability’s (NRES) commitment to enhancing the speed, efficiency, and transparency of land administration services across states. He described the initiative as a pragmatic approach aligned with the digital era’s rapid development and challenges, necessitating a comprehensive and user-friendly system. This was articulated during the signing of the Concession Agreement for the PPP e-Tanah System’s implementation in Melaka.

ned by NRES, the Melaka Government, and the concession company, Puncak Tegap Sdn Bhd, with the signing ceremony witnessed by Nik Nazmi, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, and Puncak Tegap Sdn Bhd executive chairman Syed Azmin Syed Nor. Nik Nazmi highlighted that the project would develop a system for nine land administration modules, including registration, revenue, strata, disposal, development, enforcement, acquisition, and consent, to be utilized by the Land and Mines Office and District Land Offices in Melaka.

Additionally, the initiative involves creating a mobile application to facilitate system access for users. “Users can now make transactions such as checks and tax payments anywhere through mobile devices. It will further improve the efficiency of land administration in Melaka,” stated Nik Nazmi.

Melaka Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh underscored the significance of an efficient land administration system, noting that land revenue constitutes 60 to 70 percent of the state’s total revenue.
“The state revenue in 2023 was RM479.6 million, of which RM310.6 million is from land revenue. Therefore, I hope that with a stable and up-to-date system, the state government will be able to further increase the revenue projections for the preparation of the Budget in the future,” he added.
