Impact Injuries, Drowning Among Causes Of Death In Sepat FSO Tragedy

Kuala terengganu: Severe injuries caused by strong impact and drowning have been identified among the causes of death of three workers who perished after the lifeboat they were in plunged into the sea at the Sepat floating storage and offloading (FSO) facility, located about 150 metres off the Kuala Terengganu waters, at midday yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Kuala Terengganu district police chief ACP Azli Mohd Noor stated that post-mortem results revealed the first victim, Nik Muhammad Hafifi Asri Ab Majid, 38, died from serious abdominal injuries due to a strong impact. Another victim, Muhammad Faezuan Hakim Mohammad Bustamam, 28, succumbed to neck injuries, while Ahmad Fiqri Zakaria, 38, drowned. These post-mortems were conducted between 10 am and 2.15 pm today, after which the remains were claimed by their respective families.

The incident, as reported by Bernama yesterday, involved three oil platform workers who were killed while another worker sustained serious injuries during a maintenance operation at the Sepat FSO. The injured worker, Mohd Taufik Mohd Ruslan, 37, is currently receiving treatment at Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah.
