KUALA LUMPUR: The Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) Kuala Lumpur has dismantled an illegal parking syndicate in Bukit Bintang, arresting 17 foreign nationals in a coordinated operation. The arrests were made during a raid conducted this afternoon, targeting individuals suspected of unlawfully collecting parking fees in the bustling district.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Wan Mohammed Saupee Wan Yusoff, the director of JIM Kuala Lumpur, stated that the operation commenced at 1 p.m. and involved a team of six officers from the Special Operations Unit. The nearly hour-long operation led to the apprehension of 17 foreign men, all in their 30s, believed to be orchestrating the illegal parking scheme at two separate locations within Bukit Bintang.
At the first location, authorities detained two Bangladeshi and nine Myanmar nationals, while the second location yielded the arrest of six Myanmar men. The operation came less than 24 hours after a video surfaced on Facebook, uploaded by the ‘SKUAD 4NTI PATI’ account, which depicted several foreigners managing illegal parking activities at the raid sites.
Wan Mohammed Saupee emphasized the importance of public cooperation in tackling such illegal activities, urging those with relevant information to report to JIM for further action.
