Kuala lumpur: The Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM) today celebrated the 25th anniversary of its radio station, IKIMfm, making history by broadcasting from the highest altitude atop a local skyscraper.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the special broadcast took place from the 92nd floor of Menara Merdeka 118, aiming to set a Malaysia Book of Records title for the Highest Altitude Islamic Radio Broadcast From A Skyscraper. IKIM director-general Associate Professor Datuk Dr Mohamed Azam Mohamed Adil stated that the broadcast would run from 5 am today until 6 am tomorrow.
"This achievement goes beyond setting a record; it showcases IKIM's boldness and innovation in exploring new broadcasting approaches, raising the profile of Islamic broadcasting to new heights," Mohamed Azam remarked at the celebration held at Masjid Al-Sultan Abdullah, Menara Merdeka 118.
The event was officiated by the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Zulkifli Hasan, with his deputy, Marhamah Rosli, also in attendance. The Malaysia Book of Records certificate handover will be aired live on IKIMfm, hosted by Tyzo and Syafiq, with distinguished guests Marhamah and Mohamed Azam, from the Menara Merdeka 118 studio.
During the same event, IKIMfm launched the Mahabbah MADANI Ramadan 1447 Hijrah Campaign, which aims to promote mahabbah (love), compassion, and togetherness in alignment with the Malaysia MADANI vision. This campaign will feature a series of spiritual and educational programmes during Ramadan.
Mohamed Azam emphasized that IKIMfm plays a crucial role in conveying Ramadan messages that soothe the soul, foster love, and encourage good deeds and social responsibility. "Our goal is to share an understanding of Islam with the whole ummah, not just through information, so that people genuinely grasp the wisdom and values of Ramadan. This is the responsibility of IKIM and IKIMfm," he added.
IKIMfm continues to serve as a platform for broadcasting Islamic understanding through a variety of educational, spiritual, and current affairs programmes.
