Selangor: International Islamic University Malaysia: International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) has confirmed that Dr Solehah Yaacob's service as an academic staff member at the university ended on April 27.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, IIUM's Office for Communication, Advocacy and Promotion stated that following the end of her service, Solehah no longer holds the position of professor at the university and is not entitled to claim any association with the institution in any capacity. The university emphasized that any use of titles, positions, kulliyyahs, centers, institutes, departments, or any form of official affiliation with IIUM is not permitted.

IIUM further stressed that the use of any title or position associated with the university is not allowed in promotional materials, media reports, publications, advertisements, social media content, publicity materials, or other dissemination forms, whether directly or indirectly. The clarification aims to prevent misunderstandings and uphold the university's integrity and academic standing.

Previously, Solehah, in a video lecture shared on a YouTube channel, claimed that ancient Roman shipbuilding techniques were believed to have been learned from Malay seafarers. She based her hypothesis on classical Arabic sources.

Following her claims, IIUM established an internal inquiry panel to examine Solehah's statements comprehensively and independently, in accordance with the terms of reference set for assessing issues related to academic integrity.
