Florence: Hydrostor, a global developer and operator in long-duration energy storage, has announced a strategic technology and equity agreement with energy technology company Baker Hughes. This partnership will see Baker Hughes enhancing its relationship with Hydrostor by integrating its technology capabilities into Hydrostor's core design for its advanced compressed air energy storage (A-CAES) solution. The agreement includes potential orders of up to 1.4 GW of Baker Hughes equipment for Hydrostor's flagship projects. The announcement took place during the 2026 Baker Hughes Annual Meeting in Florence.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, the collaboration comes at a time when electric grids are facing increased pressure, making long-duration energy storage an urgent priority. Lorenzo Simonelli, chairman and CEO of Baker Hughes, emphasized the importance of Hydrostor's innovative approach, which provides a low-carbon solution to enhance power reliability across various generation resources. Simonelli expressed pride in supporting Hydrostor with critical technology to accelerate these projects, aiming to bolster global grid resilience and enable sustainable power systems at scale.
