Kuala Lumpur: Heavy rain and strong winds that hit the districts of Larut Matang and Selama this afternoon caused dozens of houses in seven residential areas to be affected and damaged.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) stated that the affected homes include areas such as Taman Medan Pengkalan, Taman Damai, Taman Pengkalan Cemerlang, Kampung Pak Darus, Jalan Pengkalan Cemerlang, Pengkalan Air, and Batu 2 1/2. The adverse weather conditions between 4.30 pm and 6 pm led to a tree falling, resulting in property damage.

In response to the incident, a Temporary Evacuation Centre (PPS) has been set up at the Taman Kaya Community Hall to provide shelter for all the victims. However, authorities are still in the process of determining the total number of homes and victims affected by the storm.

No fatalities have been reported at this time. The APM has swiftly acted to remove tree branches obstructing roads to prevent further incidents.
