Kuala lumpur: Muslims have been urged to perform Solat Sunat Istisqa' (prayers for rain) in response to the ongoing hot and dry weather affecting the country.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Dr Zulkifli Hasan, emphasized the importance of these prayers as a continuous act of repentance and reliance on Allah SWT. He expressed hope that the prayers would lead to relief from the difficulties posed by the current weather conditions and result in rain that benefits all.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad recently reported that 15 heat-related cases have been documented this year, including three instances of heatstroke and one fatality involving a child left in a vehicle. He stressed the necessity for heightened vigilance during this extreme heat, advising the public to be alert to early signs of heat-related illnesses, such as prolonged dizziness, unusual thirst, and increased body temperature.
