Kuala Lumpur: Hospitals nationwide, particularly Emergency and Trauma Departments (ETD), are at their highest level of preparedness to ensure medical needs are fully met throughout the Hari Raya Aidilfitri period. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad stated that ETDs are operating at full capacity, with the Health Ministry (MOH) implementing a staggered leave system for medical personnel to ensure effective emergency response.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Dr Dzulkefly emphasized the importance of maintaining hospital preparedness at its highest level both during and after Aidilfitri. Speaking to reporters after a working visit to the ETD at Sultan Idris Shah Hospital (HSIS), he expressed satisfaction with HSIS’s SMART Bed Monitor System (SBMSys), which has improved efficiency in reducing patient waiting times for ward admission and further treatment.
On the issue of hospital congestion, Dzulkefly noted that the MOH is continuously working to address the problem, including increasing the number of medical staff at hospitals. He highlighted the tight conditions in major hospitals, which reflect ongoing efforts to manage the situation. Dzulkefly also urged the public to seek medical attention promptly during Aidilfitri, advising people not to delay hospital visits if they experience symptoms.
Earlier in his visit, Dzulkefly interacted with staff and patients at HSIS Serdang and distributed sahur meal packs to on-duty medical personnel. He also discussed the ePlacement system, affirming the MOH’s commitment to implementing the best solution for all medical personnel. Dzulkefly assured that efforts will be made to ensure fairness, empathy, and the well-being of staff in every decision.
On Tuesday, Dzulkefly announced that the ePlacement system is expected to reopen between May and June. This follows calls from the Gabungan Pegawai Perubatan Malaysia for the MOH to reinstate the original ePlacement results from February 27, which were cancelled, delaying the permanent appointments of 2,245 medical officers.
