Kuala lumpur: Hong Leong Islamic Bank Bhd has rebranded itself as HLB Islamic, aiming to sustain financing growth that surpasses the industry average over the next three to five years.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, HLB Islamic reported an 8.7 per cent year-on-year increase in its financing portfolio, reaching RM50.8 billion as of December 31, 2025. The bank emphasized its significant role within the group, contributing 23.7 per cent of the total loans and financing.
In a statement, the bank highlighted that the rebranding to HLB Islamic is part of an initiative to strengthen its core vision and consumer proposition. This refreshed approach views financial services not merely as isolated products and transactions but as a comprehensive wealth stewardship journey aligned with Shariah principles throughout the financial lifecycle.
Kevin Lam, the group managing director and chief executive officer of Hong Leong Bank Bhd, noted that transitioning to HLB Islamic was a strategic move to position the Shariah-compliant franchise as a primary growth engine for the banking group. It is also intended to be a unified gateway for financial needs within the broader Hong Leong Financial Group ecosystem.
Lam further explained that by aligning the Islamic banking identity more closely with the core HLB brand, the bank aims to make its Shariah-compliant solutions more intuitive, accessible, and digitally integrated. The goal is for HLB Islamic to become the preferred gateway for wealth stewardship in Malaysia, demonstrating that value-based, customer-centric solutions can lead the market in innovation and resonance.
Dafinah Ahmed Hilmi, chief executive officer of HLB Islamic, stated that the bank seeks to bridge the gap between theory and practice in Islamic finance while empowering customers to manage their finances through the perspective of wealth stewardship. She emphasized that Islamic banking principles offer a holistic and dignified view of wealth, linking every financial decision with a balanced responsibility toward society.
