Bidor: The Home Ministry will submit an application for a financial allocation of about RM4.3 million to upgrade facilities at the General Operations Force (GOF) 3rd Battalion Camp in Bidor to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail emphasized the importance of the allocation to enhance the welfare of personnel and logistics at the camp. The GOF bears a significant responsibility in maintaining national security and public order, making these upgrades crucial.
"Today, he (GOF Northern Brigade commander SAC Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh) requested additional funds for this camp, amounting to about RM4.3 million. I will forward this matter to the Prime Minister," Saifuddin Nasution stated during his strategic working visit to the GOF 3rd Battalion in Bidor.
Also present during the visit was Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department (KDNKA) director Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri. Saifuddin Nasution highlighted that the request by Balveer Singh follows several previous successful applications, including RM40 million in 2024 to refurbish about 50 GOF posts and RM18 million for GOF infrastructure development in Kulim, Kedah.
Saifuddin Nasution noted that such ground visits, which directly assess the welfare and logistical needs of the GOF, reflect the government's appreciation for the security force's commitment in curbing cross-border crime. He emphasized the critical role of the GOF under the KDNKA, asserting that the public feels the direct impact of its contributions, allowing them to live peacefully and without worry.
"We know that safeguarding the borders cannot rely on assets alone; it is not sufficient. We must also be equipped with the latest radar systems," he added.
Earlier in the day, Saifuddin Nasution spent about an hour at the GOF 3rd Battalion Camp in Bidor. The visit began with a 30-minute operational briefing by Balveer Singh.
