Home Ministry Surpasses Citizenship Application Target.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Home Ministry (KDN) received a total of 39,829 citizenship applications from 2019 to September 30 this year, the Dewan Rakyat was told today. Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Shamsul Anuar Nasarah reported that 6,018 of these applications were approved, resulting in the issuance of citizenship certificates.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Deputy Minister Shamsul Anuar also announced that the KDN had issued 17,452 citizenship decisions as of October 1. This figure surpasses the ministry’s target of 17,000 applications, encompassing both pending and current-year applications. He provided this information in response to a query from Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham (PH-Beruas) concerning the number of outstanding Malaysian citizenship applications at the end of 2022, as well as the number of such cases processed and approved to date. Additionally, he addressed the number of applications received from 2023 to September 2024.
