Home Ministry Enforces Ban on Two Specific Publications

Kuala Lumpur: The Home Ministry (KDN) has officially issued a prohibition order under the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 (Act 301) against two publications deemed potentially harmful to public order and interest, effective from March 10. This decision is aimed at safeguarding societal harmony and preventing potential threats.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, the ministry identified the two publications as ‘The Goal of The Wise: The Gospel of The Riser of The Family of Mohammed’ by Abdullah Hashem and ‘Suka Duka Perjalanan Dhul-Qarnain/ Cyrus The Great dan Iskandar Agung’. The prohibition is enforced under subsection 7(1) of Act 301, which strictly prohibits the printing, importing, reproduction, publishing, sale, production, circulation, distribution, or possession of these titles within Malaysia.

The ministry emphasized that this action is a preventive measure to address any possible threats or harm before they manifest. Additionally, the public is being informed about publications considered unsuitable for general readership, thereby promoting awareness and caution.

KDN further highlighted that under subsection 8(2) of Act 301, it is a criminal offense to engage in any activities related to prohibited publications, such as printing or distributing them. Violators may face penalties including imprisonment of up to three years, fines up to RM20,000, or both.

The government reiterated its commitment to regulatory measures and enforcement concerning printing presses and publications. The primary objective is to prevent the dissemination of elements, ideologies, or movements that could pose risks to public safety and order.
