Labuan:Agencies within the Home Affairs Ministry are designed to work collaboratively to enhance public well-being, security, and government service delivery, rather than operating in isolation.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, Datuk Dr Awang Alik Jeman, the ministry's secretary-general, emphasized the complementary nature of the diverse responsibilities held by these agencies. He highlighted the importance of cross-agency cooperation and an integrated approach for effective service delivery at the Jelajah Wira MADANI Programme held at the Labuan International School.
Awang Alik outlined that the ministry's agencies cover a broad range of areas, including registration and identity documentation, immigration, security, enforcement, prisons, and crime prevention. He stressed that effective service delivery cannot rely on a single agency and requires coordination across different responsibilities, expertise, and resources.
The success of initiatives like the Jelajah Wira MADANI Programme, he noted, is a testament to the collaborative efforts of various agencies. Agencies such as the National Registration Department, Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit, Royal Malaysia Police, Immigration Department, and Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency demonstrate that government bodies can operate in unison when pursuing shared goals.
He also pointed out that an integrated approach optimizes resources, prevents agencies from working in silos, and facilitates public access to services through a unified platform. The programme further allows the public to understand the varied roles of the ministry's agencies and provides a venue for officers to engage with the community, address concerns, and collect valuable feedback.
Awang Alik underscored the importance of face-to-face engagement in clarifying misunderstandings and obtaining accurate feedback. He expressed hope for continued strengthening of cooperation among the agencies and emphasized that working as a cohesive government team is vital for maintaining responsive and accessible services focused on community needs.
