HKHM 2026: Over 60,000 Jalur Gemilang Distributed In Federal Territories

Kuala lumpur: A total of 62,386 Jalur Gemilang flags have been distributed across the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, and Labuan since early August in conjunction with the National Day and Malaysia Day (HKHM) 2026 celebrations. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh announced that the flags were prominently displayed along protocol roads, as well as in public and residential areas across the Federal Territories.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, Hannah Yeoh encouraged Malaysians to show their patriotism by displaying the Jalur Gemilang, including on social media, and to appreciate the independence they enjoy today. She emphasized the importance of correct flag display, especially by agencies, urging everyone to be mindful of this practice. Yeoh spoke about these initiatives at the Aspirasi Jalur Gemilang: Mural Kemerdekaan program, highlighting the significance of these efforts.

Also present at the event were Federal Territories Department (JWP) director-general Datuk Muhammad Azmi Mohd Zain and Putrajaya Corporation (PPj) president Datuk Mohd Sakeri Abdul Kadir. Yeoh reassured the public that guidelines are readily available to ensure the Jalur Gemilang is displayed correctly and encouraged people not to hesitate in flying the national flag. She directed those unsure about proper flag protocols to visit the website for examples.

Hannah Yeoh stressed the importance of instilling the spirit of flying the Jalur Gemilang from childhood and during school days. She advised business owners to ensure that their employees tasked with flag duties are knowledgeable about proper display practices, and management should conduct checks to prevent errors.

During the event, Hannah Yeoh and JWP personnel enlivened the spirit of patriotism at Menara Seri Wilayah by completing a 25.40-metre-long Independence Mural as part of the HKHM 2026 campaign. The mural features iconic landmarks representing the three Federal Territories and the Jalur Gemilang, symbolizing national sovereignty.
