Herry Admits Men’s Doubles Fell Short At Malaysia Masters

Malaysia:<Text>

Malaysia's men's doubles squad failed to meet their target of retaining the Malaysia Masters title won last year, with no Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) pair advancing to the final this time around. The disappointment deepened after national pairs Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King were eliminated in the semi-finals yesterday.

According to BERNAMA News Agency, national men's doubles head coach Herry Iman Pierngadi admitted that the overall performance of the men's doubles department at this year's edition fell short of expectations. He acknowledged that the results were not favorable as compared to last year, where an all-Malaysian final was achieved, while this year only saw advancements to the semi-finals.

Despite missing the target, Herry expressed satisfaction with the progress shown by younger pairs such as Aaron Tai-Kang Kai Xing during the tournament. He noted improvements in their gameplay compared t o the previous year, indicating that his expectations for progress are beginning to materialize.

Herry also commented on the performance of the top national pair, Aaron-Wooi Yik, who were unable to advance past the semi-finals. He admitted that their inability to control their emotions played a part in their defeat, with both players appearing nervous and overly eager to win. Herry mentioned that this pressure resulted in moments of frustration, such as Aaron throwing his racket on the court.
