Tokyo: HelloBoss, Asia’s artificial intelligence (AI)-powered recruitment platform developed by Tokyo-based startup NGA, has raised its Series A round led by international media group Bertelsmann, marking its first strategic investment in Japan.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, BAI Capital also participated in the funding round, increasing confidence in HelloBoss’s global expansion goals. The new capital will accelerate the platform’s growth and support the deployment of its flagship AI Agent, a patented tool designed to automate the hiring process for both employers and job seekers.
NGA’s chief executive officer, Alex Wang, stated, “Japan proved the model. Now we are scaling HelloBoss into the go-to platform for global AI hiring. With remote work erasing borders, we are building a unified global job platform for the generative AI era. Tell us your skills, and AI will find the best role for you-anywhere on the planet.”
Launched in early 2023, HelloBoss has experienced a tenfold increase in revenue despite operating with a 20-person team, attracting major global brands such as Marriott and Dior. This latest funding round follows a previous pre-A round backed by international investors, including Singapore-based Yunqi Partners.
HelloBoss is positioning itself as a global AI hiring infrastructure by strengthening its product, engineering, and leadership capabilities. This effort is supported by partnerships with entities possessing extensive global networks, such as its strategic alliance with the United States HR tech giant Deel. Japan, known for its challenging HR tech market, served as the testing ground for HelloBoss’s innovations.
The platform’s newly developed AI Agent offers comprehensive automation, from instant job matching and auto-generated resumes for job seekers to AI-crafted job postings, shortlist recommendations, and multi-channel communication tools for employers. Utilizing proprietary, patented technology, the AI Agent facilitates multilingual and cross-border hiring across web and mobile platforms, enabling talent to find roles both in Japan and globally.
