GEORGE TOWN: Batu Kawan Industrial Park 3 (BKIP 3) is seeing a healthy pipeline of applications from interested investors, according to InvestPenang. Its chief executive officer, Datuk Loo Lee Lian, stated that the industrial park would be developed in five phases covering 164.07 hectares, with the first phase expected for completion by 2026.
According to BERNAMA News Agency, BKIP 3 began its marketing efforts in February 2024, following its groundbreaking ceremony, and since then, a significant number of applications from interested investors have been received. The current development is on track for the completion of all phases by the end of 2028, with land currently being offered to potential investors.
BKIP 3 is strategically located within a robust ecosystem, benefiting from its proximity to well-established industrial parks such as Batu Kawan Industrial Park and Penang Science Park. Moreover, potential investors could benefit from excellent connectivity, as BKIP 3 is situated only 2km from the North-
South Highway.
With substantial land available in various plot sizes, BKIP 3 can cater to investors’ specific requirements, further enhancing its appeal as an investment destination. The presence of established townships and schools nearby provides essential amenities and an educational foundation for the workforce.
The BKIP 3 is poised to attract strategic local and foreign investments, thereby increasing high-skilled job opportunities and benefiting the local community through higher employment rates and household incomes. Local companies stand to gain from economic spillovers by offering industrial solutions to multinational corporations in the state.
The project is expected to drive improvements in infrastructure and public amenities, enhancing the quality of life for residents in the northern region of Peninsula Malaysia. As new technologies and expertise are introduced, valuable opportunities for knowledge transfer and skills development will arise, strengthening Penang’s talent pool and positioning
the state for continued competitiveness in the global market.
